Project 2
Using the thinking skill analyzing perspectives, I was able to analyze the perspectives of artists Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, and Mexican revolution Francisco Madero. I explained the perspectives of Frida and Diego on the terms of their relationship and their views, both political and personal. I also explained the perspective of Francisco Madero towards the way his country was run at the time of the Mexican Revolution. I created three products for this project.
Art
For my art project, I created a painting depicting The faces of Frida Kahlo on one side and Diego Rivera on the other. In between them, as you can see below, is an image of The Virgin Mary with her eyes closed and she is praying. Mary signifies the religious influences in both of the artist's art, even though Rivera identified as an atheist. You can also see a purple bed on the bottom, as well as an eyes crying blood and the communism symbol next to Rivera. The color of the bed represents independence, which describes both Frida and Diego very well. The messy sheets represent the infidelity in their relationship. The communist symbol next to Rivera represents his and Frida's belief in this way of life. The eye crying blood represents the sorrow they both experienced throughout their lives together. This relates to my thinking skill because I was able to apply perspectives of the artist's and depict their sides of life. I incorporated their sides of the same story and explained through art their points of views.
English
For English, I decided to create poems in Frida perspective about her relationship with Diego Rivera. It goes into how Frida was always in Diego's shadow as well as how Frida felt about his infidelity and unfaithfulness to her, which lead her to strike back by sleeping with other people too. This relates to my thinking skill because it analyzes Frida's perspective on her relationship. I looked into Frida's life and how she felt towards circumstances surrounding her husband and her. Through evaluating her art and the things she said, I was able to get her side of the story.
History
For history, I created a speech in the perspective of Francisco Madero, a Mexican revolutionary who was a leader during the Mexican Revolution. The speech is set before the revolution when Madero was running against Porfirio Diaz for the place of president. This relates to my thinking skill because I needed to tell Madero's side of the story on a split topic. I wanted to grasp the idea of what he would say in order to get the people of Mexico on his side.
